Sorry to hear that eric. I think everyone is worried about layoffs. I know eins company has been hit hard. Mine is doing allright for the time being, but if the economy doesnt turn around soon. I'll prolly be next.

Eric, man I feel for you in the situation. Personally I think people in the stock market and (all parties) in the congress/senate need to be held accountable for this mess we're in. I don't really think Bush or even Obama can be blamed for either getting us in it or not being able to get us out of it. There's been a million and 1 reasons why were in it.. but I think the lending for mortgages is where the biggest part of the problem came from.

We laid off 275 people in my corporate office. I probably would have been let go if I were up there. I work in Siberia.. per se, one of their remote production facilities. Only IT person there.. so we just had 23 let go.. but they could have let go of 38. They will let go of even more if the economy doesn't pick back up. We will not (this is a guess.. but our stock price was $25 but it's now $5) get a pay increase but I'm mostly thankful for my job at the moment. Also, the HR person has come up with a brilliant idea that I need to be trained to be a supervisor in charge of a multi-million dollar technicial pressroom. I have many years of experience of working on the IT portion of the equipment.. but just because I've been giving the doctor the cutting tools for 8 years doesn't make me a surgeon. At any rate, we'll not be getting a pay increase if that. I keep expecting any day that the company will cut the education program reimbursement but that's partially tax credited through the IRS to the company so I might luck out. Anyway.. 38 out of a total of 144 people that print almost 2 billion cards a year. That's what I expect to see happen in about 4 months when we realize that the econmy isn't going to pick back up before 09 is over. I don't know how low the stock price can go (penny stock?) before they file bankruptcy and just fold the company for whatever they can get out of it.

I dunno.. you wanna game it up with us.. just to work off some stess.. I'll be on this weekend doing the same.

That sucks Eric, sorry to hear it. Everyones feeling the pinch in one way or another i think by now. I know that noone where i work is getting any sort of a yearly raise this year and waiting for the inevitable fact that our company will probably stop matching on our 401k (50c on the dollar). We're running slimmer people wise than i've ever seen it and i've worked for the same company for around 16 years now. We have our slowdown times throughout the year, but it's getting kinda scary. In the end i'm thankfull to still be employed. I fear for the people on my shift more so than myself, but you never know how deep they will go with cutting jobs if it really gets bad.

Funny, you mention penny stocks EIN because the company I worked at is now selling at 65 cents down from 35 dollars a year ago.

You know what sucks the most about this is that now I'm forced to look for work in downtown LA and deal with all the BS traffic.

It's too bad you couldn't have given her the flu. So, were you expecting this or were you just called over the loud speaker to come to so and so's office? Our HR guy is probably gonna get his ass kicked in the near future for some of the crap he's pulled on the red necks here. One already threatened him (at Wal-Mart of all places) but told him the only reason he wasn't going to do it right then is that he didn't want his son to see him whip his father in front of him. One of the previous HR people had an employee lunge over the desk and grab him by the throat.. and the other office workers had to pull him off. I'm *very* surprised that other people given the economy haven't done similar things already...

Probably should have saw it coming. Ah well. In the meantime I have decided to take up a career in online poker.

I found out today that we pulled all of the open advertising off line today for positions at our company. It's kinda aggravating that you see all these banks with our tax money spending it on stadiums, donations etc. Bank of America and Citibank to name two off hand.

lol, I wouldn't expect anything less. The government gave them the money so they could whatever the hell they want with it. Doesn't make it right but it is what it is.

I can smell it from here! I even seen on the news that the Cali governement said they wouldn't pay illegals wages. It's so ironic that they were 'havens' for illegals but when the bricks come crashing down.. they cut 'n run. Well, I'm not paying 'em, except to build a solid wall.
