locked, loaded and ready to roll the enemy

After completely reformating my harddrive, updating everything in the world that can be updated. I am now completely lag free and it feels great. I went and tested it today on the server. These were my round by round stats.

28-25

24-25

11-11

17-14

9-23(this was district, I hate that map, I just dont know where to go on that one yet.)

15-15

My ratio is now above .50. And hopefully it should steadily improve.

Now the last 3 rounds I played with a new gun. the mp44. How do you get a scope for that gun. I have 43 kills with it. PLease tell me its not by going up the rank in expert for that gun. Because you need headshots. After 3 round of playing with this gun and the 43 kills I got with it. I only had 1 headshot. I changed my perk to steady aim now though. SO hopefully next time I play I'll get a few more headshots.

now I was reading on configs and I have changed quite a few of mine. There are a few they recommend you change whenever you hop on the server. You can manually change them without playing with your configs. Heres the list. Ill copy and paste it from the site. The draw decals one kind of confuses me. I havent played with that one yet. It controlls the flying debri you see in the game that eats away your FPS. Now it says by default its set to zero. I would think zero means you wouldnt see the flying debri. But I have debri flying around on my screen. They say some servers want you to have a crappy FPS so they make you keep that setting at zero. So my take on it is, and this makes no sense, that have the decals set to zero means flying debri will be present and setting it to one will make it go away. Let me know your opinions on that one.

COD4 config, Make Call of Duty 4 Smooth

The most important part of setting up your cod4 config (Configuration)are the console commands. To do this you need to run COD4 multiplayer, choose your account, go into options, game options, and Enable Console.

Now when you hit your ~ key the console will drop down. and the type in these commands and hit enter

/com_maxfps 125
One of the most important commands in cod4 is the FPS command, and Ill tell you why. You probably already know that more fps makes the game feel much smoother. What you might not know is that COD4 is based on the q3 engine and is designed to work at 125 FPS.

What this means for you is that your going to have problems interacting with the game under 125 FPS. This can mean any thing from not being able to climb objects, or even bad hit detection during fire fights. The problem is your fps is set to 85 by default, lets fix it. Bring down you console and type "/com_maxfps 125" (with out "").

/cg_fov 80
Next up is the field of view command. FOV(field of view) is basically how much you can see on your monitor at one time. The higher the number the more you can see, which will give you a huge advantage over those who don't use this command. Default is 65 max is 80, to change it bring down your console and type "/cg_fov 80".

/r_drawdecals 1
Another helpful command is "r_drawdecals", set it to 1 for on and 0 for off. Its off by default, and don't be surprised if you turn it on then have to turn it off to get into certain servers. It basically cleans up some of the random paper and trash on the ground, and gives you an fps boost. But some servers want you to have bad fps and wont let you in unless its set to 0(note that the other commands will work fine on any server).

/maxpackets 100
Maxpackets next, this command command usually helps people who have good fps but bad hit registration. Default is 30 if your fps is set to 125 you should set maxpackets to this "/maxpackets 100".

/snaps 30
This command tells your cod4 server how many times to update positions of players, bullets ect per second. Default its 20 setting it to "/snaps 30" should make movement look smother and hits register better.

/r_drawsun 0
Disables the sun and a bunch of effects that is causes saving you a few fps.

/cg_brass 0
Turns off shell ejection. Not having to render them should send a few more fps your way, a good addition to your CoD4 config.

Wow.. thanks Slayer. I'll make most of those changes.. I forgot all about max fps. I always kept Wolf at 125 I think.. and took the lower number for max packets because I did better with it. Probably will leave in the shell ejection.. I like that eye candy. The paper.. etc.. not much for trash myself with the falling crap. That's distracting anyway.

MP44.. headshots only challenge.. no scopes.. only colors. To prove you are "leet" that's what it's for. I used it to get my gold ak47 that I use in stealth mode. MP44 = normally 1 shot kill at close range.. the MP44 is a great weapon on the close quarters maps or the one map with smoke all over the place from missle launches.

Damn, good to know someones doing their homework. Thx Lordy, i'll try some of them out. I've been playing stock. Just think of all the meager sniping from across the map i can do now with more accuracy and efficiency

well the difference between this and wolf. Is all were doing here is saying you dont want your fps to go above 125. RTCW had another config where you could force the FPS to be at 125. I average about 60 FPS which sucks. Its usally in the red. At times I'll get up to 95 FPS, but thats max for me. Ill be playing around with more setting until I can get closer to 125.
