Benchmark tools

Postby Guest on Tue Mar 22, 2005 12:07 pm

Does anyone else run a 3-D Benchmark tool ? I just installed 3DMark®05 (Build 1.2.0) its a free program .
you can D/L it here http://www.futuremark.com/download/

it gives you a score after it runs and then you can register at the site and compare with with ( like ) systems. you also get a list of the settings used so you can tweak your system to get the most out of it.

How distinct were the changes in those two games you noticed? Major increase in FPS?

I didnt run a time demo on them yet but once in a while i would get alittle chop in graphics with both games but after i tweaked all the bios and video card settings shes smooth as a babys bottom.

Speaking of time demos
try this:

I took the biggest demo I had, renamed it to 001 and moved it to RTCW/main/demo folder ( not the demo folder for shrub )

Start Wolf MP:
in console enter /sv_pure 0

Then type:

/timedemo 1
/demo 001 * this depends on what you rename it to *

after demo runs, bring down console and read the FPS listed.

mine ran at 283 frams per second, but the size of the demo will effect the fps rate.
that score was from a demo that was 970 KB

its fun to watch the demo in progress, it forces the pc to play the demo as fast as your pc will play. remindes me of Benny Hill

I'd be afraid to run a benchmark on my ancient machine, might blow it up!

Well.. I used to keep up with the latest thing to hit the street and some stuff that wasn't common before it was like Peltiers etc. Now I just over clock when needed but I do go out of my way to build a solid machine. Main thing I look for are motherboard stability and features. As I get more machines laying around the management features really start to show their worth.

Download FutureMark 3d Mark05..http://www.futuremark.com/download/
and run test. Takes about 7 minutes, then it will give you a score...
.Disable antivirus and any other programs running in the background for best results..

YUP.....
When you run the benchmark, you'll most likely get slow frame rates like everyone cuz there's over a million pixles per frame...
Hope you got a halfway decent vid card...lol
Oh yea, I've got an nvidia card, and I use RivaTuner to overclock..
I've got a few web sites to help with oc'ing if you need...
